AAFL is committed to supporting and promoting Australian grown alpaca fibre both nationally and internationally. Our Fleece Division offers a range of services to the Australian growers to support them in developing a better quality fleece. These services include: Fleece Classing, education by qualified classers, acceptance of all fleece types and colours, working with Fleece Liaison Officers and growers to actively source fleece and assist with transport concerns, Research and Development of the Australian Alpaca industry both nationally and internationally, a supply chain that focuses on communication to fleece growers, and more
Australian Alpaca Association Ltd
The Australian Alpaca Association Ltd. represents owners at all levels and is the collective voice of over 2100 members in all States. The Association is the primary resource for breeding and promoting alpacas providing you with the tools, information and support you need to enjoy all the benefits associated with owning alpacas.
SRS® Alpacas International
The SRS® breeding system developed by Dr Jim Watts in the 1980's has been successfully used to maximise fibre density and length in merino sheep. If an animal grows more fibres (density) and if those fibres are longer, then it will produce more weight of fleece. Greater weights improve the productivity. The higher density also reduces the fibre diameter of individual fibres.

Fallowfield Alpacas
Fallowfield Alpacas is located at Crag House, an 88 acre farm near Hexham in Northumberland UK. At 680ft above sea level, the alpaca paddocks have spectacular views to the North Tyne valley and the Scottish borders, and to the west along the Roman Wall to the Pennines. The land comprises small paddocks interspersed with shelter belt woodland, and the local dry-stone walls provide additional shelter.
